On July 6, 1988, 12-year-old Sarah Cherry was babysitting for the first time. Mr. and Mrs. Henkel had hired Sarah to watch their 10-month-old baby, Monica. When Mrs. Henkel arrived home around 3pm, baby Monica was sound asleep in her crib, but Sarah was nowhere to be found. Her glasses, shoes, and jacket were still in the home so Mrs. Henkel knew something was horribly wrong. She called 911.
When detectives arrived, Mrs. Henkel handed them two items she had found in her driveway that afternoon: a notebook and a receipt to an autobody repair shop. The name at the top of the receipt was Dennis Dechaine.
After Sarah’s body was discovered two days later, investigators were able to arrest Dennis Dechaine for her murder. Despite all the evidence pointing towards Dennis, he still maintains his innocence and his family and friends have created a nonprofit dedicated to proving he was framed for the murder.
Come along with Hannah and Bob as they discuss hotdog preferences, keeping your children in bubblewrap, and our favorite Spongebob moments.

In part two of this two part series, Hannah tells Bob all about Ian Bailey and his multiple arrests for the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. Ian had given a statement to police early on in the investigation just because he was a neighbor and journalist. After Marie Farrell identified Ian as the man she saw on the bridge the night of Sophie’s murder, police closed in on him. Ian was arrested twice but had to be released after 12 hours of questioning both times because police didn’t have enough evidence to keep him.
Ian ends up suing the papers twice for libel and loses both times. In fact, these trials bring to light a lot of evidence that makes Ian look more guilty of the murder. But then in 2008, Marie Farrell retracts her original statement about seeing Ian on the bridge the night of Sophie’s murder. She ends up lying so much that she was no longer a reliable witness. Listen to the entire episode to find out what happens to Ian and if anyone is ever convicted of killing Sophie.
Come along with Hannah and Bob as they discuss rollercoasters, canes, and are women who consume true crime content more observant than the rest of the population?

Tuesday Mar 24, 2026

On December 23, 1996, in the picturesque countryside of Schull, County Cork, Ireland, a woman’s body was found brutally murdered near her holiday home. This was Sophie Toscan du Plantier who was staying on her own at her holiday house for Christmas. She usually came to Ireland on her own so this wasn’t out of the ordinary for her. Her friends and family couldn’t think of anyone who would want to hurt Sophie. Naturally, the police look into her husband and previous partners first. These men were ruled out fairly quickly.
Luckily, police received a tip from a local shopowner about seeing a man on the bridge near Sophie’s home on the night of her murder. She later identified this man as Ian Bailey, the investigative journalist who had been reporting on this case. Was he a cold-blooded killer or just at the wrong place at the wrong time? Or was someone else to blame for this horrific slaying? Find out next week on part two.
Come along with Hannah and Bob as they discuss coffee walks, Kit-Kat bars, and how important or unimportant curtains are.

Robert Coombes

Tuesday Mar 17, 2026

Tuesday Mar 17, 2026

In the summer of 1895, brothers Robert and Nattie Coombes were having the time of their lives. The boys had been left home alone to do as they please. Their dad was away at sea and their mom had gone to visit an aunt out of town. Or at least, that’s what they told anyone who inquired as to their mother’s whereabouts. After ten days of freedom, their mother’s severely decayed body was found in the front bedroom of their home. Robert confessed to the murder, but being as he was only 13 years old, he was sentenced to Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum.
It seems like this would be the end of Robert’s story, right? Well, he went on to live a very interesting life after Broadmoor and even saved lives. What do you think? Was Robert a cold blooded killer or a kid just trying to protect his younger brother?
Come along with Hannah and her mom as they discuss Nattie the squirrel boy, “stealing” food, and having too much brain matter for one’s skull.

In 1876 in Kentucky and 1994 in Washington, citizens experienced the skies raining down mysterious substances. In Kentucky, the blobs appeared to be meat, while in Washington, the blobs were translucent, gelatinous goo. In both instances, samples were collected, tests were performed, and scientists made conclusions.
In the case of the blobs in Washington, scientists never could agree on what the substance is. Luckily, one resident collected a sample and has held on to it in case anyone ever wants to get to the bottom of it.
In the case of the Kentucky meat shower, the samples were determined to be meat, but the source of the meat is something you would never guess.
Come along with Hannah and Bob as they discuss crows bringing you gifts, airplane waste, and chemistry.

The Dardeen Family Murders

Tuesday Mar 03, 2026

Tuesday Mar 03, 2026

Keith and Elaine Dardeen were a well liked and respected couple in their community of Ina, IL. In November 1987, they had a 2 year old son, Peter, and Elaine was seven months pregnant with a baby girl. On November 18, police were sent to the Dardeen family home for a wellness check after Keith hadn’t shown up for work. They found three bodies all tucked into the same bed: Elaine, Peter, and a brand new baby girl. Elaine had been beaten so severely that she had gone into labor and delivered her baby who was tragically met with the same fate as her mother and brother.
Keith was nowhere to be found so he immediately became the prime suspect. The next day, Keith’s body was found in a wheat field not far from the home. He had been shot, had a head injury, and his penis had been severed. It was clear that he had not committed this crime. So investigators start digging into Keith and Elaine’s lives and find…nothing. They had no enemies and no one had a single bad thing to say about them.
Over three decades have passed and police are no closer to solving the case today as they were in 1987. Could this have been the work of a serial killer, a potential home buyer, or someone else entirely?
Come along as Hannah and her little mom discuss spider friends, eight-tracks, and Southern Illinois.
If you have any information pertaining to this case, please contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 618-244-8004.

The Cookie Monster Killer

Tuesday Feb 24, 2026

Tuesday Feb 24, 2026

In the summer of 1987, Harrison “Marty” Graham was evicted due to his failure to fix the horrific smell coming from his apartment. When he left, he brought a water bottle, some clothes, and his Cookie Monster puppet that he had had since childhood.
When the landlord’s son and nephew went to the apartment to make sure Marty had gone, they found that a door to one of the rooms was nailed shut. They called the police who broke down the door and found several decomposing bodies in that room. They started searching for Marty, but he was difficult to track down. After about a week, police caught up to him and brought him in for questioning. He quickly admitted to murdering seven women, only five of which he knew their names.
Marty’s defense focused on his mental capacity, and he underwent multiple psychiatric evaluations. Eventually, he was sentenced to one life sentence and six death sentences, however, he was later determined to be incompetent to be executed.
Come along with Hannah and Lainey as they discuss McDonald’s cookie totes, The Parent Trap, and our fruit fly friend.

The Enfield Poltergeist

Tuesday Feb 17, 2026

Tuesday Feb 17, 2026

In late August of 1977, the Hodgson family started experiencing paranormal occurrences in their home including strange knocking sounds, furniture moving on its own, and Lego bricks being thrown across the room by an invisible force. The matriarch of the family, Peggy, had contacted the police for help but when they couldn’t help her, she went to the media. This led to the home being investigated by the Society for Psychical Research (SPR).
The SPR sent Maurice Grosse to investigate and he ended up investigating for over 18 months and capturing over 200 hours of audio recordings of activity in the home. Most of the activity revolved around 11 year old Janet Hodgson. Many people believed it was a hoax made up by Janet and her siblings, but over 30 individuals witnessed things in that home that couldn’t be explained away.
Come along with Hannah and Adriana as they discuss this haunting, the Super Bowl half time show, scientists in ghost hunting, and what the fuck even is a Poltergeist?

The Clearfield Rapist

Tuesday Feb 10, 2026

Tuesday Feb 10, 2026

From 1991 to 2002, there was a series of random sexual assaults in Utah and Wyoming. DNA was left at the scene of 11 attacks. Unfortunately, this DNA didn’t match any identified person in CODIS and eventually, the cases went cold. In 2017, investigators approached Dr. Barbara Rae-Venter to help solve this case through the use of familial DNA. The science had come a long way since 2002, and Dr. Rae-Venter was able to track down family members of the attacker. Ultimately, this led to the arrest of Mark Douglas Burns who admitted to these eleven attacks and three murders for which he had not even been suspected. Mark Douglas Burns was sentenced to 242 years in prison for the attacks alone.
Come along with Hannah and Lainey as they discuss their favorite Scooby-Doo characters, burglary vs. robbery, and what is a second cousin?

Lauren Giddings spent the summer of 2011 studying to take the bar exam. She had just graduated from law school in May and was planning to move in with her boyfriend soon. When her sister hadn’t heard from Lauren in a couple of days, she sent one of Lauren’s friends over to check on her, but nobody answered. The friend used a spare key to get into the apartment. Lauren’s keys, wallet, and purse were there, but Lauren was nowhere to be found. A missing persons report was filed and a search party was formed. The next morning while detectives are investigating, they smell something strange. The smell leads them to the garbage cans where they uncover the torso of a human body. Investigators discover a hacksaw in the maintenance room of this apartment building that appears to have some blood and tissue on it. Only two people have a key to this room: the owner of the building and the maintenance man. Or at least that’s what police think at first, until they find a secret third master key in a fellow law student and neighbor’s apartment.
Nobody would want to hurt Lauren. So who could have done this? Her boyfriend who didn’t really want her to be moving in? Her ex-boyfriend who still had feelings for her? The maintenance man who had a key and a hacksaw? Or a fellow law school graduate who lived next door with a secret third master key?
Follow along with Hannah and Bob as they discuss this horrific case, as well as, rollerblading, the bar exam, and having a saw room.
