On December 28, 1956, sisters Barbara Grimes, 15, and Patricia Grimes, 12, left their home to go see Elvis Presley’s “Love Me Tender” at the Brighton Theater in Chicago. When they didn’t arrive home by midnight, their mother alerted the authorities. Police officers and hundreds of volunteers searched for them for days, but the weather was brutal and searches eventually came to a halt. On January 22, 1957, the girls’ bodies were found in a ditch along the side of a road in Willow Springs, IL. Both bodies showed signs of trauma including marks, bruises, and puncture wounds to the chest.
There have been some suspects over the years but there has never been enough evidence to definitively link anyone to the murders. This year will mark 70 years since the girls disappeared and police are no closer to finding their killer than they were in 1956. Did four young boys assault them and throw them out in the cold? Was it a stablehand who admitted to killing three young boys the year before? Or the dishwasher who admitted to the murders after being interrogated for hours?
Follow along as Hannah and Lainey theorize and discuss the upcoming winter Olympics, horse girls, and romanticizing winter.
CONTENT WARNING: This episode contains discussions of homicide and sexual assault. Listener discretion is advised.

On today’s episode of Spooky B*tch Walk, Hannah tells Bob about the mysterious disappearance of the Sodder children. On Christmas Eve 1945, the Sodder family was gathered in their home spending a cozy night together. Six of the ten Sodder children asked their parents, George and Jennie, if they could stay up late because they were having such a good time together. Jennie and George allowed this; it was Christmas Eve, after all.
Around midnight, the phone rang and Jennie answered it. She saw that only one of her children was still in the living room asleep on the couch. She assumed the other five must have gone up to bed. Around 1am, Jennie was awoken by the smell of smoke. Their home was on fire and the flames were spreading fast. George and Jennie along with 4 of their children were able to escape the flames, but five of their children were still inside. Or were they?
The Sodder home burnt to the ground in 45 minutes. No remains were ever found indicating that there were no other bodies in the house when it burned. There are many theories about what could have possibly happened. Were the flames hot enough to cremate all five bodies? Had they been kidnapped and the house set on fire to hide evidence? Was an angry local banker to blame for the arson? Or did the children simply run away never to contact their family again?
Along the way, Hannah and Bob discuss black holes, Carole Baskin, and who can handle the most gore.

From 1977-1989, the Ant Hill Kids Cult (AKA the Holy Moses Mountain Family) operated in isolated areas of Quebec and Ontario, Canada. The leader of this group, Roch Thériault, collected followers while working at a homeopathic clinic. Roch was able to convince his followers to sell all of their belongings and sever ties with their family members and follow him. Things were fine at first, but as Roch’s drinking got worse, so did the abuse. Roch believed he was a holy healer and to prove this to his followers, he performed amateur operations on anyone experiencing any kind of illness. Obviously, this led to multiple deaths on the commune. Eventually, authorities were alerted when a child passed away due to being abused by Roch. Roch was sentenced to 18 months in jail. His followers were waiting for him when he got out and things only got worse.
Follow along with Hannah and Lainet as they discuss Lainey’s first time watching Twilight, the winter Olympics, and suffering but being happy about it.

On May 24, 2019, Jennifer Dulos dropped her five children off at school and then was never seen again. Jennifer grew up wealthy and had access to all the best opportunities, but all she ever wanted was a loving husband and children. When she hadn’t met the perfect man by the time she was 35, she started making plans to have a child on her own. But then, she ran into Fotis Dulos. They were married very quickly and turned to IVF to ensure Jennifer would get pregnant right away. They ended up having five children together.
Jennifer loved being a mother, but her marriage was not what she had envisioned for herself. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Fotis could be scary and too hard on the kids. After Jennifer found out about his infidelity, they decided to separate and shortly after, Jennifer filed for divorce. This would turn into a two years long custody battle that would ultimately lead to Jennifer’s disappearance.
Join Hannah and Lainey as they discuss accents, drinking in parks, and how you shouldn’t even bother murdering anyone because of technology.

On this week’s episode, Hannah tells Lainey a story of survival, betrayal, and shipwrecks. The Walker family set sail on the Wandering Minstrel in the fall of 1887 with the goal of starting a shark fishery near the Hawaiian islands. The Walkers brought their dog, Jessie, and 24 crew members along. In February 1888, they ran into some storms while anchored near the Midway Atoll. After 3 days of storms, one of the anchors broke causing the ship to run into the reef which forced everyone to abandon ship. They all ended up on the Midway Atoll where they discovered someone was already living. Who was this mystery man? How long had he been trapped on this island? And more importantly, how long would they be trapped on this island?
Come along as Hannah and Lainey discuss survival skills, being dancey, and dogs being heroes.

On today’s episode of Spooky B*tch Walk, Hannah tells Lainey about the stalking of Dave Kroupa and the murder of Cari Farver. In 2012, Dave was looking for a casual relationship so he went on the dating app, Plenty of Fish. This is how he met Liz Golyar and Cari Farver. He had only been seeing Cari for two weeks when she sent him a text saying they should move in together. Dave didn’t want to do this and when he told her that, he started receiving harassing messages from Cari. He never saw Cari again but he continued to receive texts and emails from her that became increasingly threatening over time. Liz started receiving these kinds of messages from Cari too. Cari even sent pictures to Dave of the inside of Liz’s house and burned Liz’s house with her pets inside.
After about three years of this stalking behavior, the dream team with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Department (Jim Doty, Ryan Avis, and Tony Kava) cracks the case. And what they find will shock you.
Come along as Hannah and Lainey discuss hot chocolate, Christmas lights, and how to protect yourself against stalkers.

On this week’s episode, Hannah tells Lainey about the murder of Ajike “AJ” Owens. AJ was a mom to four beautiful children who were all under the age of 13 when she was taken from them. AJ and her children lived in Ocala, FL, in a neighborhood with a big open field to play in. All of the neighborhood kids had been playing in this field for years. Susan Lorincz lived in an apartment next to this field. She started calling police to complain about the kids being too loud and trespassing on her property by playing in the open field next to her home. It turns out that that field did not belong to Susan’s landlord so the children were allowed to continue playing there.
On June 2, 2023, AJ’s sons had been playing outside when Susan took one of their tablets. They told their mom who went over to Susan’s to confront her. She had only knocked twice when Susan shot AJ through her locked door resulting in her death.
Come along as Hannah and Lainey discuss Stand Your Ground laws, fruit flys, and the yips.

On April 25, 2017, 17-month-old Sema’j Crosby was reported missing by her mother, Sheri Gordon. Approximately 30 hours later, Sema’j’s body was found under the couch in her home. The day after she was found, the home was deemed uninhabitable by the county, and the day after Sema’j’s funeral, the home burned to the ground.
DCFS had been involved with this family for years and had visited the home the same day that Sema’j went missing. In 2022, there was a civil suit in which DCFS and Children’s Home and Aid were deemed negligent in this case and Sema’j’s father won $6.4 million.
To this day, no one has been charged with Sema’j’s murder. If you have any information, please contact the Will County Sheriff’s Department at 815-727-8575.

Today’s episode is the second part of our series about Losing Streak Lois. In today’s episode, we pick up where we left off: Fort Myers Beach, FL, where a body had been found in a condo unit. This body turned out to be Pamela Hutchinson who was a beautiful, sunshine person just trying to help out a new friend when she was murdered. Luckily, there was security footage all around this condominium which police were able to obtain. That’s when they see Pam meeting Lois Riess. They also see Lois taking Pam’s car which they are able to track through highway cameras. Lois makes her way to South Padre Island where it appears she was at least thinking about murdering again.
Along the way, Hannah and Lainey discuss being a bitchy spook, energy vampires, and our show recommendations.
